Material Matters: Architectural Finishes in Practice

In collaboration with multiple Schools of Architecture, this one-of-a-kind educational experience brings together architecture students, design professionals, and material experts for a deeper, hands-on understanding of how materials shape the built environment.

This immersive program will expose emerging architects to a wide array of materials and finishes, exploring how they are specified, applied, and experienced in real-world projects. Whether in homes, hospitals, resorts, or entertainment venues, materials are the touchpoints of design—and this exposé is about unlocking their creative and technical potential.

The program will be held September 2–5, running 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM daily at Select Surface Solutions in Orlando, FL, a premier resource for decorative and restorative materials. Morning coffee and lunch will be provided each day.

With only 40 spots available—20 for students and 20 for sponsoring professionals—this unique collaboration fosters mentorship and innovation. We are currently accepting applications using the form below, and by August 25, all attendees and scholarship recipients will be selected and announced. Further details on attire and parking will be provided to confirmed participants.
